Captured by this book. I listen to several books a week and have for years. I don’t remember one that pulled me is as The Likeness did. Every free minute I had I listened and the end of the book came too soon. I would recommend the book to someone who likes to envision the setting of a book.   5 million stars The Likeness is an extraordinary novel. It is one of the best books I have ever read. After reading just two Dublin Murder Squad books this month, I have made a spot for Tana French as one of my 3 all time favorite authors.

Like a fine wine, this murder mystery is to be savored/5(K). Overview The second installment in American-Irish author Tana French's Dublin Murder Squad series, The Likeness () chronicles a detective's efforts to investigate the murder of a young woman who is the protagonist's doppelganger.

In its annual book awards, Salon named The Likeness one of the ten best books of After the events of the previous book, In the Woods, Detective Cassie. Having read the previous book by Sarah Bailey "The Dark Lake" likeness of the night book I thoroughly enjoyed; I was pleasantly surprised by "Into the Night" which continued the character of Detective Gemma Woodcock now transferred to Melbourne.

I thought might be a bit much to go from a small town country detective to operate in a large metropolitan police force/5(50). The discovery of her murdered doppelgänger leads a Dublin detective to insert herself into the victim’s life. Cassandra Maddox, the Irish cop introduced in French’s In the Woods (), gets an urgent call from her homicide-detective boyfriend Sam O’ is to drop everything, disguise herself and hustle to a murder scene that has clearly left Sam shaken.

For that reason, I must use the word heresy to speak of Bill Johnson’s book When Heaven Invades Earth: A Practical Guide to a Life of Miracles.

As I will argue, Johnson’s teaching about living a life of miraculous power is heretical precisely because it misrepresents what the Bible says about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Live by Night is a riveting epic layered with a diverse cast of loyal friends and callous enemies, tough rumrunners and sultry femmes fatales, Bible-quoting evangelists and cruel Klansmen, all battling for survival and their piece of the American dream.

Boston, The '20s are roaring. The Likeness is unique in its undercover storyline, yet both Richard from The Secret History and Cassie find themselves pulled into the dynamics of these weird co-dependent groups.

I generally have mixed feelings on mysteries and thrillers, but I have really enjoyed the two Tana French books I have read. Book Summary His instructor, Moshe the Beadle, returns from a near-death experience and warns that Nazi aggressors will soon threaten the serenity of their lives.

However, even when anti-Semitic measures force the Sighet Jews into supervised ghettos, Elie's family remains calm and compliant. Like Eliezer, many of Night’s minor figures must try to reconcile a will to live with a desire to honor love’s obligations.

Akiba Drumer’s love of God becomes more and more difficult to sustain in Auschwitz, yet the moment he abandons his “cabbalistic dreams” is the moment he begins to die.
